Burning is a 2018 South Korean psychological thriller directed by Lee Chang-dong, adapting a Haruki Murakami short story about a young deliveryman, Jong-su, who reconnects with a childhood friend, Hae-mi, and grows increasingly suspicious of Ben, the wealthy and enigmatic man she returns from a trip with. The film premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the FIPRESCI critics' prize, and became the first South Korean film to reach the final shortlist for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
