Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson

Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson is a 1976 revisionist Western directed, produced and co-written by Robert Altman, adapting Arthur Kopit's 1968 play Indians. Starring Paul Newman as Buffalo Bill Cody alongside Geraldine Chaplin, Will Sampson, Joel Grey, Harvey Keitel and Burt Lancaster, it follows Buffalo Bill's Wild West show in 1885 when Sitting Bull joins as a performer and refuses to stage historically inaccurate battle scenes, using the setting to critique the mythology Cody built around himself. The film won the Golden Bear at the 1976 Berlin International Film Festival.
