Blowup

Blowup is a 1966 psychological mystery film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, his first entirely English language production, starring David Hemmings, Vanessa Redgrave and Sarah Miles. It follows a fashion photographer in London who becomes convinced he has accidentally photographed a murder in a park, a story drawn from Julio Cortazars short story Las babas del diablo and set within 1960s London mod culture. The film won the Palme dOr at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival and received Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, and its frank treatment of adult subject matter is credited with helping push Hollywood away from the old Production Code toward a modern ratings system.
