Beau Geste is a 1926 American silent adventure film directed by Herbert Brenon, starring Ronald Colman as one of three brothers who join the French Foreign Legion after a family jewel goes missing under mysterious circumstances, based on the 1924 novel by P.C. Wren. Its desert battle sequences, filmed in the Arizona and California deserts standing in for North Africa, were noted at the time for their scale, and the film was a major commercial success that helped cement the Foreign Legion adventure story as a popular genre in American cinema.
