Amour (2012 film)

Amour is a 2012 drama written and directed by Michael Haneke, an international co-production of France, Austria and Germany, that follows Anne and Georges, a retired Parisian couple of music teachers whose lives are upended after Anne suffers a stroke over breakfast and Georges takes on her care as her condition worsens. It premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or, making Haneke only the second director to win the prize in consecutive festivals, and it went on to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film alongside a Best Picture nomination. Widely regarded by critics as one of the finest films of the twenty-first century, it grossed nearly 37 million dollars worldwide on a budget of under nine million.
