William Murray Hawkins III, known as Trip Hawkins and born on December 28, 1953, is an American entrepreneur and the founder of Electronic Arts, The 3DO Company and Digital Chocolate. The atlas records him with John Madden as a designer of John Madden Football, the 1988 game that began the Madden NFL franchise, so that a sports-game franchise can be traced to the company founder who initiated it as well as to the football figure whose name it carries.
