South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone that premiered on Comedy Central in 1997, following four boys in the fictional Colorado town of South Park. It is known for crude animation deliberately styled to resemble cutout construction paper, satirical and frequently topical content, and a production process fast enough to turn around episodes responding to current events within the same week they air. The series has repeatedly drawn controversy over its subject matter and has become one of the longest-running scripted series in American television, animated or otherwise.
