Playhouse 90 is an American television drama anthology series broadcast on CBS from 1956 to 1960, presenting original ninety minute teleplays performed live or on videotape from a rotating roster of writers, directors and actors. Its best remembered episode, Rod Serling's Requiem for a Heavyweight, is frequently cited as one of the finest achievements of live television drama, and the series overall is closely associated with the mid 1950s period later remembered as the Golden Age of Television. It is regarded by television historians as one of the most ambitious and critically respected anthology drama series American network television produced.
