The Golden Girls

The Golden Girls is an American television sitcom that ran on NBC from 1985 to 1992, starring Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty as four older women, three of them widowed or divorced and one the mother of another, sharing a house together in Miami, Florida. The series was notable for centering an ensemble cast of older women as its lead characters at a time when American television comedy rarely did so, and for addressing issues including aging, sexuality, illness and death within a traditional sitcom format. It won multiple Emmy Awards for its writing and performances and remains widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed American sitcoms of its decade.
