Borgen (TV series)

Borgen is a Danish political drama television series created by Adam Price with writers Jeppe Gjervig Gram and Tobias Lindholm, which premiered on the Danish public broadcaster DR1 on September 26, 2010. Its first three ten-episode seasons, broadcast between 2010 and 2013, follow Birgitte Nyborg Christensen, a minor centrist politician who becomes Denmark's first female prime minister, as she navigates coalition politics and the personal costs of power; a fourth season, subtitled Power and Glory, followed in 2022 through a collaboration with Netflix. The show's title refers to Christiansborg Palace, informally called Borgen, which houses the Danish parliament, prime minister's office and supreme court, and the series won considerable international acclaim, particularly in Britain, the United States and Australia.
