The Crown (TV series)

The Crown is a historical drama television series created by Peter Morgan, developed from his earlier film The Queen and stage play The Audience, and produced for Netflix as a UK-US co-production by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television. It premiered worldwide on November 4, 2016 and ran for six seasons and sixty episodes, tracing the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from her 1947 wedding to Philip Mountbatten through to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles's 2005 wedding, recasting its lead actors every two seasons as the story ages, with Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton each playing the Queen in turn. Filmed largely at Elstree Studios on an estimated budget of 260 million dollars, it won 24 Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards while also drawing criticism for historical inaccuracies, particularly from its fourth season onward.
