Studio One

Studio One is an American television drama anthology series broadcast on CBS from 1948 to 1958, adapted from an earlier CBS radio drama anthology of the same name and presenting original or adapted teleplays performed live each week. Among the earliest prestige drama anthologies on American television, it helped establish the live single play format that came to define the medium's Golden Age before videotape and film production became standard, and it served as an early platform for writers and directors who went on to prominent film and television careers. It is regarded by television historians as one of the pioneering drama anthology series of American network television's first decade.
