The Twilight Zone

The Twilight Zone is an American anthology television series created by Rod Serling that premiered on CBS on October 2, 1959, presenting standalone episodes of science fiction, fantasy and horror, most ending in an ironic or unsettling twist. Serling used the show's speculative settings partly as a way to explore socially and politically controversial themes that contemporary realistic dramas of the era faced greater difficulty addressing directly under network and sponsor scrutiny. The series is widely regarded as one of the greatest television programs ever made, won multiple Emmy and Hugo Awards during its original run, and its title phrase entered general English usage as a description for any surreal or disorienting experience.
