Bob Fosse

Bob Fosse, born Robert Louis Fosse in Chicago in 1927, was an American choreographer, dancer, actor, filmmaker, and stage director considered one of the most influential figures in twentieth century jazz dance. On Broadway he won nine Tony Awards for choreographing and directing shows including The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Pippin, and Chicago. As a film director he won the Academy Award for Best Director for Cabaret in 1972, and he was also nominated for Lenny and for All That Jazz, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. In 1973 Fosse became the only person to win the Academy Award, Tony Award, and Primetime Emmy Award in the same year. He died in 1987.
