Broadcasters

NHK, the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, was founded on 6 August 1926 through the merger of the Osaka and Nagoya radio stations into a single national broadcasting body, tracing its lineage to the Tokyo Broadcasting Station that aired Japan first radio transmission in March 1925. It operates under Japan 1950 Broadcasting Act on a licence fee funding model modeled on the BBC, and is the largest public broadcaster in Asia and the second largest public broadcaster in the world.
