The Familiar of Zero

The Familiar of Zero is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Noboru Yamaguchi with illustrations by Eiji Usatsuka. Media Factory published 20 volumes between June 2004 and February 2011, following the second year class of a magic academy in a fictional magical world, with the story centered on the inept mage Louise and her familiar summoned from Earth, Saito Hiraga. The series was left unfinished after Yamaguchi's death in 2013, but was later completed in two further volumes released in February 2016 and February 2017 by a different author working from Yamaguchi's own notes.
