Back to the Future

Back to the Future is a 1985 American science fiction comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis, following teenager Marty McFly as an experimental time machine built by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown accidentally sends him from 1985 back to 1955, where he must ensure his own future parents fall in love as he had accidentally interfered with their first meeting, or risk erasing his own existence. Blending fast paced comedy with a tightly constructed time travel plot in which small changes to the past visibly alter the present, the film became the highest grossing release of 1985 worldwide. It has since been recognized as one of the most influential science fiction comedies ever made, was selected for the National Film Registry in 2007, and spawned two sequels along with a wide range of other media.
