From Here to Eternity

From Here to Eternity is a 1953 American drama directed by Fred Zinnemann for Columbia Pictures, based on James Jones's novel, following three United States Army soldiers stationed in Hawaii in the months before the attack on Pearl Harbor as they navigate military discipline, romance and personal conflict. It won 8 of its 13 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and supporting acting wins for Frank Sinatra and Donna Reed, and became a major commercial success. Its beach scene between two of the leads was considered daring for its era and remains one of the film's most remembered images.
