Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters is a media franchise built around the 1984 American supernatural comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, starring Bill Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis as Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz and Egon Spengler, three eccentric parapsychologists who start a ghost catching business in New York City, alongside co-stars Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson and William Atherton. The original film's success led to an animated television series, a 1989 theatrical sequel, an all-female led 2016 reboot, and a further sequel beginning in 2021 that continued the story with the original team's children and successors. The franchise has also produced video games, comic books, theme park attractions and a wide range of merchandise built around its proton pack and Ecto-1 imagery.
