Danny DeVito

Directors and Filmmakers

Danny DeVito is an American actor, comedian and filmmaker, born in 1944, whose short stature, raspy voice and energetic comic timing made him one of the most recognisable character performers in English-language film and television. He rose to prominence as the taxi dispatcher Louie De Palma in the television series Taxi, a role that earned him a Golden Globe Award, and has played Frank Reynolds in the sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia since 2006. His film work ranges from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Romancing the Stone to Twins, Batman Returns and Matilda, and he has also lent his voice to animated features. In 1991 he co-founded the production company Jersey Films, which produced Pulp Fiction, and he was among the producers nominated for the Best Picture Oscar for Erin Brockovich.
