Jorge Délano Frederick was a Chilean cartoonist, screenwriter, film director and actor, born on 4 December 1895 and died on 9 July 1980. He worked as a caricaturist for the newspaper La Nación and in 1931 established Topaze, a political satire magazine. His journalism was recognised with the Maria Moors Cabot International Journalism Prize in 1952 and the Chilean National Prize for Journalism in 1964. His range, from newspaper caricature through satirical magazine publishing to screenwriting, directing and acting, makes him a good example of how Latin American cartoonists could move between print and film in the twentieth century.
