Grimes

Claire Elise Boucher, born March 17, 1988, in Vancouver, British Columbia, performs as Grimes, a Canadian singer, songwriter, record producer, music video director, and visual artist whose work frequently explores science fiction, feminism, and fantasy themes. After moving to Montreal in 2006 to attend McGill University, she began releasing music independently, achieving breakthrough success with her 2012 album Visions, which won a Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year and featured the singles Genesis and Oblivion. Her other studio albums include Geidi Primes and Halfaxa, both from 2010, Art Angels from 2015, which multiple publications named the best album of that year, and Miss Anthropocene from 2020. Her genre-spanning sound blends synth-pop, electropop, art pop, and dream pop with elements of rock, hip hop, and classical music. Beyond music, Grimes voiced a character in the video game Cyberpunk 2077 and served as a judge on the television competition series Alter Ego.
