Akuol de Mabior

Akuol Garang de Mabior is a South Sudanese filmmaker, model, businesswoman and women's rights activist whose career spans the fashion industry, documentary filmmaking and advocacy work. She built an international modeling career between 2011 and 2013, working with prestigious agencies and walking the runway for major fashion houses including Chanel and Hermes, giving her early visibility on the global stage. She later shifted her focus toward filmmaking, directing the short documentary Tomato Soup, which premiered at the Durban International Film Festival and marked her transition from the fashion world into visual storytelling centered on South Sudanese life and identity. Alongside her creative work she has taken on an advocacy role, serving on the board of Embrace Dignity, an organization dedicated to combating sex trafficking and advancing legal reform to protect vulnerable women, connecting her public profile to concrete rights based work in her home region and beyond.
