Listen to Britain is a 1942 British wartime documentary short directed by Humphrey Jennings and edited by Stewart McAllister for the Crown Film Unit, built almost entirely from a montage of sounds and images of everyday life in Britain during the Second World War, from factory work and farm labor to a concert performance and dancing at a Saturday night dance hall. The film uses no spoken narration, relying instead on the juxtaposition of ambient sound and music to convey a sense of a nation carrying on ordinary life under wartime conditions. It is widely regarded by film historians as one of the finest achievements of the British wartime documentary movement and of Jennings's career in particular.
