Woodstock is a 1970 documentary directed by Michael Wadleigh, chronicling the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair in upstate New York through concert performances and footage of the several hundred thousand attendees living communally on the festival grounds. The film was edited using extensive split-screen and multi-image techniques to convey the scale of the event, and its editing team included Martin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker, both early in their careers. Woodstock won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and is widely regarded as the definitive filmed record of the festival and one of the most influential concert documentaries ever made.
