RBG is a 2018 American documentary directed and produced by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, chronicling the life and legal career of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman to serve as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. The film follows Ginsburg from her Brooklyn childhood through her education at Cornell and at Harvard and Columbia law schools, her work as a law professor and litigator, the landmark gender discrimination cases she argued before the Supreme Court in the 1970s, and her later years on the Court as a prominent dissenting voice and an unlikely pop culture icon. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2018, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.
