Oliver Stone

Oliver Stone is an American filmmaker born in New York City in 1946 who works as a director, screenwriter, and producer known for films about the Vietnam War, American politics, biography, and crime. He began as a screenwriter, winning an Academy Award for adapting Midnight Express in 1978, then wrote and directed the Vietnam War films Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July, winning the Academy Award for Best Director for both, with Platoon also winning Best Picture. His other major films include Wall Street, The Doors, JFK, Natural Born Killers, Nixon, and Snowden, and his films have grossed 1.3 billion dollars worldwide. He announced a semi-retirement from narrative filmmaking in 2020 while continuing to direct documentaries.
