Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson is an American actor and filmmaker who holds dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland and lives in Australia. He became an international star playing Max Rockatansky in the Mad Max trilogy and Detective Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon series. As a director he won the Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for Braveheart in 1995, becoming only the sixth actor turned filmmaker to win Best Director, and he later directed The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto. His 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge, his directorial comeback, won two Academy Awards. Films starring or directed by Gibson have grossed more than 2.5 billion dollars domestically.
