Mel Ferrer

Melchor Gaston Ferrer (August 25, 1917 - June 2, 2008) was an American actor, director and producer, active in film, theatre and television. He achieved prominence on Broadway before scoring notable film hits with Scaramouche (1952), Lili (1953) and Knights of the Round Table (1953). Beyond acting he worked as a director and producer, and his later screen credits include War and Peace (1956), Wait Until Dark (1967), The Antichrist (1974) and Nightmare City (1980). His career, spanning stage, cinema and television over several decades, makes him an example of a performer who also took on directing and producing work in the American film industry.
