Kathryn Bigelow

Kathryn Ann Bigelow, born November 27, 1951, in San Carlos, California, is an American film director, producer, and writer. Her films include Point Break (1991), The Hurt Locker (2008), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), and Detroit (2017). For The Hurt Locker she became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director; her other honors include a second Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award, and Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010.
