Scud (filmmaker)

Scud, born Danny Cheng Wan-Cheung on 20 March 1967, is a China-born Hong Kong filmmaker known for writing, directing, producing and financing his own independent features. After an early career in real estate that gave him the means to self-fund his films, he turned to filmmaking in the 2000s, producing a body of work marked by frank treatment of male sexuality and intimacy that placed him outside Hong Kong's commercial mainstream. His independent, self-financed model let him retain full creative control over subject matter that more conventionally funded studios in the region would not have backed.
