Matthew Weiner

Matthew Weiner (born 1965) is an American television writer, producer and director best known as the creator and showrunner of Mad Men, the period drama set at a Madison Avenue advertising agency that he wrote and ran from 2007 to 2015. Before creating Mad Men he was a writer and executive producer on The Sopranos from 2004 to 2007. Mad Men won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series four consecutive years from 2008 to 2011 and earned Weiner nine Primetime Emmy Awards across both series along with three Golden Globe Awards. He later created the anthology series The Romanoffs for Amazon in 2018 and published his debut novel Heather, the Totality in 2017. Weiner was named to Time magazine's 2011 Time 100 list and received the International Emmy Founders Award in 2014.
