James Marsh, born April 30 1963 in Truro, Cornwall, England, is a British film and documentary director. He is best known for Man on Wire (2008), a documentary about Philippe Petit's 1974 high wire walk between the World Trade Center towers, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and for The Theory of Everything (2014), a biographical film about physicist Stephen Hawking. Marsh holds a degree in English from St Catherine's College, Oxford. He lives in Copenhagen with his wife and two daughters.
