Alfonso Cuarón Orozco, born in Mexico City on 28 November 1961, is a Mexican filmmaker who has been active since 1981. His accolades include four Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, seven BAFTA Awards and one Golden Lion, as well as a nomination for a Grammy Award. He made his feature debut with the romantic comedy Solo con tu pareja in 1991, directed the adaptations A Little Princess and Great Expectations, and broke through with Y tu mama tambien in 2001. He later directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men, Gravity and Roma, the last two winning him Academy Awards for Best Director.
