Christopher Nolan is a British and American filmmaker regarded as one of the leading directors of the twenty first century, known for Hollywood films built on intricate storytelling and unconventional narrative structures. He first drew wide notice with Memento in 2000, then went on to direct The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. His films have grossed more than 7.7 billion dollars worldwide, making him the third highest grossing film director of all time. Oppenheimer, released in 2023, won him the Academy Award for Best Director as well as Best Picture.
