Amazon Prime Video is an American subscription video on demand and rental streaming service operated by Amazon, launched on 7 September 2006 as Amazon Unbox. The service was renamed Amazon Video on Demand in 2008 and rebranded again as Amazon Instant Video in 2011, before taking its current name as Prime Video, offered as a standalone subscription or bundled with Amazon Prime membership. It has grown from an early video on demand storefront into one of the major streaming services alongside Netflix and Disney+.
