Paprika is a 2006 Japanese animated science fiction film directed by Satoshi Kon and based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Yasutaka Tsutsui. It follows a device that allows therapists to enter patients' dreams, and the chaos that follows when it is stolen and used to blur the line between dreams and waking reality. The film was Kon's fourth and final completed feature before his death in 2010, and it has been named among Time magazine's best animated films of all time. Its imagery of dreams invading reality is widely noted by critics as a clear forerunner to Christopher Nolan's 2010 film Inception.
