The Woman Who Left is a 2016 Philippine drama written and directed by Lav Diaz, shot in black and white and starring Charo Santos-Concio in her return to acting. Loosely based on Leo Tolstoy's short story God Sees the Truth, But Waits, it follows Horacia Somorostro, a woman released from prison after decades for a crime she did not commit, as she seeks out the wealthy former lover who framed her. The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
