Water (2005 film)

Water is a 2005 drama film written and directed by Deepa Mehta, with a screenplay by Anurag Kashyap. Set in 1938, it follows the lives of widows at an ashram in India, and is the third and final installment of Mehta's Elements trilogy, preceded by Fire (1996) and Earth (1998). The author Bapsi Sidhwa, whose earlier novel Cracking India had been the basis for Earth, wrote a 2006 novel based on Water.
