Still Life is a 2006 Chinese film directed by Jia Zhangke, set in Fengjie, a town being destroyed by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. It follows two parallel stories, a coal miner named Han Sanming who returns after sixteen years to search for the wife and daughter who left him, and a nurse named Shen Hong who arrives seeking her estranged husband, now a successful businessman having an affair. The film won the Golden Lion for best film at the 2006 Venice Film Festival.
