Viridiana

Viridiana is a 1961 Spanish and Mexican co-production directed by Luis Bunuel. It follows a young novice preparing to take her vows who visits her reclusive uncle, and after he assaults her and then takes his own life, inherits his estate and tries to use it to help a group of impoverished people, whose presence in the house instead brings chaos and moral transgression. The film was a co-winner of the Palme d'Or at the 1961 Cannes Film Festival and has since been voted the best Spanish film of all time in a poll by the magazine Caiman Cuadernos de Cine.
