Under the Sun of Satan is a 1987 French film directed by Maurice Pialat. Set in 1920s northern France, it follows a tormented young priest with unusual spiritual gifts who struggles with his vocation and with the nature of evil in the world. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival, the first time in twenty-one years that the prize had gone to a French film.
