Kind Hearts and Coronets

Kind Hearts and Coronets is a 1949 British black comedy crime film directed by Robert Hamer for Ealing Studios, starring Dennis Price, Joan Greenwood, Valerie Hobson and Alec Guinness, who plays eight members of the same aristocratic family. Loosely based on the 1907 novel Israel Rank by Roy Horniman, it follows Louis D'Ascoyne Mazzini, the son of a woman disowned by her family for marrying beneath her class, as he sets out to murder the eight relatives who stand between him and the family dukedom. The film was well received on its 1949 release and its reputation has grown since, placing sixth in the British Film Institute's 1999 ranking of the top 100 British films.
