El Lazarillo de Tormes is a 1959 Spanish-Italian film directed by Cesar Fernandez Ardavin, adapting the anonymous sixteenth century Spanish novel of the same name from 1554. It tells the story of Lazarillo, a poor boy forced to live by his wits after being sold into service to a series of cruel masters. The film won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1960.
