The Green Ray is a 1986 French romantic drama written and directed by Eric Rohmer, starring Marie Riviere as Delphine, a Parisian left alone and heartbroken after her travel companion cancels their summer holiday. Delphine drifts through several failed vacation plans before, while in Biarritz, she learns of the green ray, a rare optical phenomenon Jules Verne wrote could reveal inner truth at sunset, which she eventually witnesses with a man she has just met. The film won the Golden Lion and the FIPRESCI Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
