Bloody Sunday (film)

Bloody Sunday is a 2002 docudrama written and directed by Paul Greengrass, a United Kingdom-Ireland co-production starring James Nesbitt as civil rights organizer Ivan Cooper. Drawing on Don Mullan's book Eyewitness Bloody Sunday, it dramatizes the events of 30 January 1972 in Derry, Northern Ireland, when British Army paratroopers opened fire on civil rights marchers, killing thirteen people. At the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival it shared the Golden Bear for best film with Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
