The Pianist (2002 film)

The Pianist is a 2002 biographical drama directed by Roman Polanski, with a screenplay by Ronald Harwood, starring Adrien Brody as Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Polish Jewish pianist whose memoir the film adapts, covering his survival of the Warsaw Ghetto and the German occupation of Poland during World War II. It was produced as a co-production among France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland. The film won the Palme dOr at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, and at the Academy Awards it won Best Director for Polanski, Best Adapted Screenplay for Harwood and Best Actor for Brody.
