Close to Eden is a 1991 Soviet film directed by Nikita Mikhalkov, made as an international co-production with France. It is an adventure drama about the friendship between a Russian truck driver and a Mongolian shepherd in Inner Mongolia. The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and the European Film Award for Best Film, and it was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film.
