Steve Russell, whose full name is Stephen Russell and who is nicknamed Slug, is an American computer scientist born in 1937. He is most famous for creating Spacewar!, which is well known as the first widely distributed video game. Spacewar! circulated among computer users of its era and became one of the earliest reference points for interactive entertainment on a computer screen, which is why Russell is counted among the pioneers of video game technology.
