Donald Siegel was an American film and television director, producer and editor who lived from 26 October 1912 to 20 April 1991. The New York Times described him as a director of tough, cynical and forthright action-adventure films whose taut plots centered on individualistic loners. He directed the science fiction horror film Invasion of the Body Snatchers, five films with Clint Eastwood including Dirty Harry and Escape from Alcatraz, and John Wayne's final film, The Shootist.
